Happy Friday,
Wow, we had a busy week, from creating animals for our habitats on Wednesday to the Animal Olympics today! It is time for a much needed break! A "BIG" thank you to the parents that volunteered to help with animal creating and those that worked our event and came to cheer us on at the Animal Olympics! When we return, it will be October! We will continue with our letters, focusing on "Nn" and "Oo". We will begin Informational Writing as we learn all about spiders. In Math, we will sort and count sets as well as a final review of shapes as our 9 weeks comes to an end. We will continue with our STEM project creating the other things we see in our habitats. Please try and find some time over the long break to practice sight words! Students need to master 15 words by sight, not sounding out, to receive a "3" on the report card. Report cards will be given to you during your scheduled conference the week of October 17th. Hi Parents,
Next week we will focus on the letters "Ll" and "Mm". We will continue to review numbers to 10, while adding 11 and 12 as well as counting sets using one-on-one correspondence. Our final habitat was introduced on Thursday. Students will be put into one of the 5 habitats on Monday and begin planning to create an animal that lives in that habitat. Animals will be created on Wednesday. Thanks to our volunteers coming in to help! We couldn't do it without you! The traditional Kindergarten Animal Olympics is scheduled for Friday, September 23rd. Information is in the red folders today. Students need to bring in a stuffed animal on Monday. The animal will stay at school all week and be returned on Friday. Please don't send in an animal that your child is not okay with leaving at school. Tritt teachers will face Mt. Bethel teachers in a kickball game to benefit The Rally Foundation on Tuesday, September 20th. I will not be playing, but will be there for crowd control. If you aren't busy, come out and support Tritt and Rally. Game is at Walton High Schooll at 5:00. We will go to the Media Center on Thursday of next week to check out a new book. Have a great weekend, Mrs. East Hi Parents,
We had a very busy week with only 4 days! Next week, we will focus on the letters "Jj" and "Kk". We will learn to write these letters using the correct strokes as well as their sounds. In Math, we will learn to write the numbers 9 and 10. Duriing Math stations, students will practice recognizing numbers to 20 and those that are ready will move onto 30. In Science we will finish learning the last 3 habitats, woodlands, grasslands and rain forest. We will begin creating animals that live in those habitats the week of September 19th. I will need 5 parent volunteers to come and help with this STEM activity. I will need these volunteers on Wednesday, September 21st from 9:30-11:00. Please email me if you can help. Since September is the harvest season, we will be doing several fun activities with apples. Please send in 1 apple (It can be any color or variety) by Tuesday, September 13th. We will compare our apples by size and color and use them on Friday to make applesauce. Yum,Yum One of our Social Studies standards for this nine weeks is stating our street address and city. Please work on this over the next two weeks at home to help with mastery. Our first week of homework is under our belts. I hope it wasn't too painful! Please make sure that you are only doing one activity a night. We want students to set up a nightly homework routine. I forgot to mention at Open House that I would like student to do all of their "writing " work in pencil. Also, markers tend to bleed through the pages, so let's just use crayons or colored pencils. Helpers Line Leader-Marshall Teacher's Helper- Leah Caboose-Annabelle Clean-up-Quinn Bearsonality is Caroline. Secret Sack will come home with Ansley. Guessing Jar will come home with Emmett. I hope everyone has a great weekend, Mrs. East Hi Parents,
