We loved having our mothers come for muffins on Thursday. The kiddos did such a great job with the songs and poem and were very excited to show moms their special gifts.
We have a busy week next week. A letter was sent home on Thursday mapping out the events for the week. Please refer to that for reminders of what students need to wear and bring each day. Also, I wanted to add that if your child is a girl, make sure that if they are wearing a denim or blue skirt for the Kindergarten Program, that they have shorts on underneath. Students will be sitting during the performance. Also, just wanted to give a heads up as to where our class will be located on the stage, so that you can get the best view! As you face the stage and risers in the cafeteria, we are on the risers to the far right. We are on the stage, not on the risers on the floor. Make sure and get to Tritt early to get a good seat. Parking will be a problem, so be prepared.
We have finished Guided Reading Groups for the year. All folders are due back on Monday. I have some here that I did not get to with our crazy day yesterday. I will send these back home next week with their current sight word bags (if they have one) and a First Grade sight word list to work on over the summer.
I hope everyone has a great weekend,
We had a very busy day getting ready for our STEM showcase tomorrow. We will be using the plants that were brought in today to design a new plant. If you did not send in any plants, we would welcome any additional plants for tomorrow. If you are planning on attending the showcase, I hope you will stop by our room and see the fun challenge the kiddos will be participating in.
Last week was the last "official" week of homework. I still have the homework journals and will send them home this week. Guided Reading folders will still be coming home this week and next.
You can still continue to access the online reading program and I encourage you to do so throughout the summer!
Please return you RSVP to our Moms for Muffins ASAP. Please make sure that someone can come in your place if you are unable to attend. This event is scheduled for May 11th at 7:45.
We are in desperate need of Clorox wipes for our tables. If you are out and about, we would love a donation. Thanks

Directions for making a valentine box and class list for addressing valentines will come home on Monday. We are going to give you time to work on addressing your valentines and work on your boxes for homework for several nights next week, as we know this takes time.

Getting back into the routine has been rough for these kiddos (and the teacher, if I am being honest) HA. Just when we get back, we get out early for snow and then miss Monday and Tuesday. We have no school this Monday, January 16th, in observation of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Hopefully, we will get back on a steady routine after that!
I put a new homework calendar in the back of the red folders today. We will start back with homework next week. Since we have missed some extra days, please help me with extra sight word and reading practice at home.
We will go to the ILC on Friday for a lesson and check out, Don't forget to return your book.
In Math, we are beginning to learn basic addition facts to 5. I will introduce Opinion Writing on Tuesday. Students will write their own opinions on the season of winter. Is it or is it not their favorite season and why.
Doughnuts for Dad is quickly approaching. Invitations went home on Thursday. If Dad is unavailable, please make sure that someone comes in his place.

Please continue to practice sight words and reread the books that are coming home in the Guided Reading Folders. I started assessing sight words for the next nine weeks report card and some students were very rusty on their words.
Mr. Guinta, our Science Lab teacher, will be posting pictures on his blog of what our class is doing. Make sure to check it out!!
We had a fun week in Kindergarten with all the "Dash" activities! We had a "Disco Dance Party" first thing Monday morning followed by a "Fall Center Celebration". (Thanks to all the parents that came and provided the craft and games for us). On Tuesday, we went to Chimney Springs Park. It was a beautiful day and the students had a blast. (Another shout out to the moms that came with us to help chaperone). Wednesday, we had "sno cones" for posting the fastest time in Kindergarten during the Tiger Dash. Today, we watched as Dr. Patterson, Mrs. Keesling and Mrs. DeMeester became human sundaes. It was a successful fundraiser! Thank you for all of your support, Tritt is the best!!!
Next week, we will learn facts about Native Americans and Pilgrims and how they contributed to the first Thanksgiving. We will write about them in our writing journals. We are really working hard on remembering to capitalize the first letter in our sentences and put a punctuation mark at the end. In Math, we are continuing to compare numbers using the words more, less and equal to. We are also working on writing the numbers 1-20 correctly when labeling a set.
